Search engine optimization (SEO) for local businesses and organizations is essential if you want any real traction on the World Wide Web. With literally billions of Web pages being pumped out every year, your website will only stand a chance if it has been optimized. So if you represent a business, organization or institution in Scottsdale, AZ, you’ve come to the right place.

Why SEO?

SEO is to websites as tune-ups are to cars and trucks.

A website can function (barely) without SEO, but that doesn’t mean that search engines will find it. And how do people fine services and information online? They use search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing. The flow of information is really that simple.

SEO isn’t just about making your website shiny. It’s about making your website visible and searchable to the most number of people who are actually looking for you.

Gone are the days where people scour printed brochures and phonebooks to find what they need. Nowadays, everything and nearly everyone is on the Internet. You may be too, but are people actually finding your website and whatever it is you are offering now?

It’s about algorithms

An algorithm is a set of equations used by search engines to make sense of information being posted online.

Recently, Google has moved away from ‘mechanical’ means of being found on the Web. Keyword relevance is still key to being found, but the algorithms have changed a lot. Google now requires rich and dynamic content, functional websites that offer true value, et cetera.

That’s where I come in. And that’s where search engine optimization comes to fix things in your website.

On-page optimization

Each Web page on your website has elements that search engines “read” and rank according to their standards of relevance. Stuff like meta titles and other meta tags determine relevance, in addition to content you already have. These factors comprise what we call “on-page optimization.”

So what we’d like to accomplish with your website is to make it relevant for specific keywords and markets that find your website useful. It’s like turning your market’s binoculars towards you so they find your Web pages more easily.

Off-page optimization

Off-page optimization deals with elements and forces that are beyond the boundaries of your website. Briefly, Google (and the other search engines) want to know if other websites (and therefore, real people) are talking about your website and are posting about it in reputable or highly ranked websites.

Backlinks and inbound links help create a reputable and high-ranking link profile for your website. It’s a bit like people asking other people about a certain person. If Person B tells Person A that Website Z is good, then reputation goes up. It’s not exactly like this, but the concept is there: you need other websites pointing at your online real estate if you want to rank higher in search engine results.

Relevancy matters

On the Web, being relevant is all the rage – mainly because people don’t like wasting their time on websites that don’t provide the information they need. Topic relevancy is associated with off-page optimization. What we would like to happen when this is our goal is to get high-ranking websites to link back to your website in an acceptable matter. This will greatly enhance how search engines view your website from the general schema of relevancy. In addition, we need to study your market, its current online environment and identify “leaders” that would boost your website to the top.

I’d be happy to discuss your campaign with you. Each project is different. Go ahead and email me now from our contact form page. Talk with you soon!
